Drag and drop photos onto PhotoScaler and you will be presented with several options to scale down said images. Pick the scaling options you want to apply, hit the Scale button, select the output location, and wait for the whole thing to be done. That is, in a nutshell, the functionality you can expect to get from the free and portable application PhotoScaler.

Here is what you have to do to get started with PhotoScaler: download an archive, extract its contents, run the PhotoScaler executable. You will not have to go through any installation process, which is quite nice. And since you don’t have to install PhotoScaler, you can put the application on a portable storage device and take it with you.

PhotoScaler doesn’t have an Add Files or Add Folder button. To load files into the application you have to drag and drop them onto the interface. All the files you load into PhotoScaler will be presented as a list on the interface.

After you drag and drop images onto PhotoScaler, several scaling options will become available: scale to a percentage, scale to specific size in pixels, bicubic, bilinear and other scale modes, color filters, flip images horizontally or vertically, rotate images, save logs.

There’s nothing complicated about using PhotoScaler. Start by selecting some images and then drag and drop them onto PhotoScaler. Then go through the scaling options and tell PhotoScaler what you want it to do. Hit the Scale button and you will be invited to select the output location. After that the scaling process will commence. There’s nothing left to do then but wait for the images to be processed.

PhotoScaler is free software.

Scale images to a percentage, scale images to a specific size in pixels, apply color filters, rotate images. These and other tasks can be done with PhotoScaler, a free and portable application for Windows.

Pros

PhotoScaler does not have to be installed; this makes the application portable. Several scaling options are available. There’s nothing complicated about using PhotoScaler. PhotoScaler is free software.

Cons

An Add Files or Add Folder button would be very useful, but there isn’t any. You have to drag and drop images onto PhotoScaler.
